The Living Room
So, what can you expect to find at Le Bout de Sac?
First up - please don't expect luxury or refined living; you'll only be disappointed. The house is clean, comfortable and simply decorated and furnished. It sleeps six people comfortably in 1 x king sized bed (attic bedroom); 1 x double bed (first floor) and 2 x single beds (also first floor).
Let's begin on the ground floor, though. The photo on the left shows the main living room. Here you'll find all the normal furnishings plus a 5-CD changer stereo system and a collection of CDs. You are, of course, welcome to use the CDs but our taste might not match yours and bringing your own might be a good idea too! There's also a small selection of books and games.
The log burner is highly efficient and fuel is included in the price of your stay; like the Bretons do, you might need to collect some kindling during your travels, though. The ground floor has supplementary heating from wall mounted electric radiators, but once the log burner's up and running - even in the coldest weather - they're hardly needed.

The Kitchen
At the rear of the house is the kitchen. It's a simple affair but has everything necessary to cook a meal for six.
At the moment there is no main oven, although we have plans to install a cooker during this year (2012). There is a four ring gas hob, run from bottled gas. The gas tends to last a very long time, but if you are in residence when it runs out, there is usually a spare cylinder under the hob ready for swapping over.
There is a large fridge with a small freezer compartment and a combi-microwave which acts as an oven/grill as well as nuking food in the normal manner. Naturally, you'll find crockery, cooking utensils, pans, glasses etc. There is also a selection of herbs and spices and non-perishable foodstuffs always within reach. Please - if you use something (which you're welcome to do) - replace it like-for-like as you go. And always put foodstuffs away so that the marauding Breton mice can't get at it, as they can scent a food source from miles away and somehow get in to find it! This applies particularly to your final kitchen clean before you leave.
You'll also find a dishwasher - just stack those used crocks inside, set it off and the rest of the day is yours (although using the overnight cheaper electricity helps us to keep our charges low.)
Also on the ground floor there is a small utility area with a basic (slow spin!) washing machine and some shelves with tools and useful stuff. If you do have children with you, please be careful - this area is certainly not small finger proof and there are plenty of sharp things within reach. Just by the utility area is the one and only loo. A word about the loo - it's clean and it works, some might even say it's comfy - but it's very far from sound-proof; please leave any inhibitions back home.
Just off the living room is the shower room with a large sized shower tray and a good spray shower head. The water heats overnight and should supply plenty for up to six people to shower and for washing up etc. Both water and electricity are, however, shockingly expensive in France - please try to be careful with your usage so we can keep our rental prices down.

Upstairs
And so, we move upstairs to the first floor, which has two bedrooms. Each has a chest of drawers and hanging rail for clothing and is equipped with an oil-filled electric radiator for chillier evenings.
The smaller of the two has a standard sized double bed; the window looks out onto the 15th-century Chapelle Ste Anne.
The larger first floor bedroom has two single beds and two windows overlooking the Chapelle.
And then it's upstairs again, this time up a very steep and bannister-free Breton "ladder stair" into the attic which has a king size bed. In the attic bedroom there is also a small desk, a dressing table complete with drawers for clothing storage and a hanging rail. Due to the access, this room is not really suitable for smaller children or creakier adults. The attic bedroom (pictured) has two velux windows with blackout blinds.

Outside
At the back of the house is a patio garden - perfect for sitting out in the evenings or for dining al fresco when the weather permits.
You'll also find the wood store here, easily accessible from the back door if the weather isn't being quite so kind!

And so - a list, as comprehensive as memory will allow, of equipment at Le Bout de Sac. Not including normal furniture for any given room (after all, you'd expect to find chairs in a living room and a bed in a bedroom, so why list them?)
Living room: sideboard containing small selection of games, magazines, maps of the area, stationery, wine glasses. Stereo CD player/radio, collection of CDs. Log burner.
Please note - there is no television anywhere in the house.
Kitchen: combi-microwave oven, four ring gas hob, pans, crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils, fridge with small freezer compartment, dishwasher.
Utility area: washing machine (note it has a very slow spin cycle, so your washing will take some time to dry unless it's very sunny). Barbecue with utensils. Folding chairs for use outside. Numerous tools (that's really for our use, but if you really want to hammer a nail into something, you'll find the wherewithal here).
First Floor: two bedrooms, one double, one twin. Both have oil filled radiators and bedside tables and lamps.
Attic floor: bedside tables and lamps, oil filled radiator.
Outside: log store and sitting out area - far reaching views!
